Green Camp 1971

In 1971, when I was fifteen, I hitchhiked on my own to Copenhagen and spent six weeks in a hippy camp called Green Camp. I managed to build up a life there; I had many friends, got a job in the shop/canteen and stayed on till far after my school in Holland had started.
Life was great. We hung around the camp day and night, meeting people, talking, playing the bongo's , passing around the old chillum. 'Love brother' or 'Peace sister' we said when we met strangers. For many, certainly for me, it was the beginning of a new world.
The trip I then made has stayed with me for the rest of my life, but I've never been able to find any information about Green Camp, nor have I ever met people who stayed there (I quickly lost contact with the friends I made there).
Recently I have been trying to find information about Green Camp on the internet. I could not find anything, but for an article in an issue of the American magazine Saturday Review (Sept. 1971) that was offered for sale on EBay. I bought it and the article and the two accompanying photos of Green Camp, were the first that I saw of the old hippy camp after all these years. You can find them below.

Green Camp, Kopenhagen 1971
Heb je ooit gehoord van Green Camp, een hippiekamp of sleep-in in Kopenhagen waar in 1971 duizenden jongeren uit Europa en Amerika enige tijd hebben doorgebracht?
Ik heb er toen ik vijftien was een week of zes in mijn eentje doorgebracht, in een pas ontstane nieuwe hippe wereld waar iedereen lief was en mensen “Love Brother” of “Peace Sister” tegen elkaar zeiden.
Ik ben erg op zoek naar mensen die destijds in Green Camp geweest zijn (dat was vlak voor het bekende Christiania in de herfst van 1971 werd gekraakt) en die wellicht verhalen of foto’s hebben uit die tijd.
